Passport Services Update

The Department of Immigration and Nationality has announced updated procedures for Eritrean passport applications and renewals effective 2026.

New Application Requirements

Applicants for new Eritrean passports must provide:

• Completed passport application form
• Original and copy of Eritrean ID card
• Four recent passport-sized photographs (white background)
• Birth certificate or proof of Eritrean nationality
• Previous passport (for renewals)
• Payment of applicable fees

Application Locations

Passport services are available at:

• Eritrean Embassies and Consulates worldwide
• Immigration Department offices in Eritrea
• Authorized Community Centers (for initial processing)

Processing Times

• Standard Processing: 4-6 weeks
• Renewal: 3-4 weeks
• Lost Passport Replacement: 6-8 weeks
